National Night Out

The City of Coppell has record National Night Out celebration with 65 block parties throughout the City.

Re_sized_Officer_Mike_Gregory_and_kids.jpgThe City of Coppell's 21st Anniversary of National Night out was a record breaking celebration. There were 65 block parties through the city with hundreds of people gathering together with their neighbors. There were cookouts, bounce houses, live bands, games, and ice cream.  The spirit of NNO was in every block party visited by the Police Department, Mayor and City Council, and Fire Department.  McGruff the crime dog and the NNO Knight were busy meeting kids and handing out glow necklaces, footballs, and other fun items.

NNO is designed to bring neighbors together, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and generate participation in anti-crime and drug programs.  The City of Coppell sent a message to criminals that neighborhoods are fighting back against crime.

The Police Department would like to thank all the Block Captains, neighborhoods, and citizens for supporting National Night Out this year.  With out all of you, this program could not be as successful.  The City of Coppell has a long history of award winning NNO celebrations and the Police Department is proud to be a part of such a great crime prevention community.  The Police Department would also like to thank the following people, city departments, and volunteer organizations because without them, the National Night Out program does not happen:

Block Captain Swim Party

Knight_diving.jpgThe Police department hosted a swimming party for all NNO Block Captains and their families at the Coppell Aquatic Recreation Center on Saturday August 25th from 6 pm to 8 pm. The event was FREE and allowed those coordinating neighborhood events to have some fun and get to know each other. The swim party gave each captain the opportunity to pick up their various block party supplies to be used for NNO. Everyone had a great time cooling off the pool.

NNO at St. Ann's Carnivalknight at st anns.jpg, Sept. 7th, 8th, and 9th

The NNO Knight and "Mr. P.C." (the robot car) had three days of non-stop food, games, and rides. The Police Department had an NNO Informational Booth to help answer questions and provide ideas on how to plan the best block party in the city! CPAC and the police department provided DNA/ID kits for the kids.  The Knight spent all his time eating cotton candy and funnel cake that he forgot to ride the merry go round.  Maybe next year!
