The Operations Division is the response and intervention individuals that handle the tactical aspects of an emergency and non-emergency response. These are the men and women who put out the fire, stabilize a medical emergency, transport patients to area hospitals, and on extremely rare occasions, rescue animals from precarious situations.
Frontline firefighters work a three-day rotation on either "A", "B", or "C" shift from 0700 hours to 0700 hours; 24 hours on-duty and 48 hours off-duty.
A Battalion Chief, who is also on the same shift rotation as firefighters, commands each shift. "A" Shift is commanded by Battalion Chief Matthew Uppole, "B" Shift is commanded by Battalion Chief Jim Kitchens, and "C" Shift is commanded by Battalion Chief Bryan White. The city is protected by three engine companies with each engine company consisting of one captain, one engineer and two firefighter/paramedics. Additionally, there are three medic companies and each medic company consists of two firefighter/paramedics. Finally, there is one truck company that consists of one captain, one engineer, and up to three firefighter/paramedics.
