STARTING NOVEMBER 1, 2011 Waste Management and the City of Coppell introduced a convenient way to dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW), and e-waste (electronic waste such as TV's, VCR's, Computer Monitors, and Consumer Electronics with Circuit Boards). The "At Your Door Special Collection Service" has been implemented providing Coppell residents the opportunity to have HHW and e-waste collected at their doorstep. Americans generate 1.6 million tons of household hazardous waste a year. The average home can accumulate as much as 100 pounds of household hazardous waste. Household hazardous wastes are sometimes disposed of improperly by pouring them down the drain, on the ground, into storm sewers, or putting them out with the trash. The dangers of such disposal methods might not be immediately obvious, but improper disposal of these wastes can pollute the environment and pose a threat to human health.
