City of Coppell Wins CAFR Award

The City of Coppell's Finance department has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 27th year in a row.

"The City's CAFR is an audited annual report that includes detailed information about the City's financial position," said Director of Finance Jennifer Miller. "Our staff takes great pride throughout the year to make sure budgets are balanced and monies are spent responsibly."

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has presented this award to the City of Coppell every year since 1989. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
