Parts of Andrew Brown West Open

After many months of construction, portions of Andrew Brown Park West open on Monday, April 10. The newly redeveloped park provides ample opportunity for recreation and enjoying the beautiful Spring weather with family and friends. Featured spaces include two side-by-side playgrounds, one for younger and one for older children, a rentable pavilion space, and sand volleyball and basketball courts. A 1-mile soft trail runs alongside a 1-mile concrete trail that circles the park, providing a great option for runners. The soccer concession area at the northwest end of the park includes restrooms that are open and available to park users.

Other areas of the park will remain closed until mid-August, including all athletics fields and the softball 4-plex. This will allow the grass enough time to take root before the start of the fall season for youth soccer and softball.

Work continues at Andrew Brown Park East in preparation for the grand reopening on Saturday, July 1 at Coppell’s Independence Day Celebration, Celebrate Coppell. At Celebrate Coppell, attendees will get a chance to enjoy family activities, peruse an arts and craft area, enjoy food curated by State Fair of Texas concessionaire Isaac Rousso, and take in performances by local groups and musicians, some from right here in Coppell. Headlining band, World Classic Rockers, features an all-star line up of former members of some of rock ‘n’ rolls greatest bands including Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, Boston, and Steppenwolf. The night will be capped off with an amazing fireworks show.

Coppell Parks and Recreation wants to thank the community for their patience during the redevelopment project. The new Andrew Brown Parks will be a true gem of the parks system, where residents can enjoy the outdoors for years to come.
