The City of Coppell hosted two public meetings on March 1 and March 9, 2017 to provide an update on the planned DART Cotton Belt Rail Line Project. The 26-mile line will extend from DFW Airport to Shiloh Road in Plano and traverse seven cities, including Coppell.
City Manager Clay Phillips conducted the meetings at the Coppell Community Center, 345 W. Bethel Road. No DART representatives were available.
There were 75 attendees at the March 1 meeting and 110 at the March 9 meeting. Several citizens asked questions and the general opinion of those in attendance was that the residents and businesses near the planned rail line would benefit from the Cypress Waters Alternative station site.
DART representatives plan to schedule public input meetings for residents in the near future and the City will publish those dates when they become available. For more information about the Cotton Belt Corridor, please visit www.DART.org/CottonBelt.
