Employee Spotlight

Roman Finazzo - Public Works

Roman Finazzo - Public Works Utilities Crew Leader

If you were a big fan of the talent show Star Search in the 1990s, you might have spotted future City of Coppell employee, Roman Finazzo chatting it up with host Ed McMahon and tap dancing his way to the semi-finals with his group, 4 Guys Tappin' on the show in 1992.

The Utilities Crew Leader grew up in his parents' dance studio in Riverside, California teaching hip hop and tap dance to students of all ages. While two out of his three brothers became professional dancers, Roman eventually decided to hang up his dancing shoes and set his sights on a career working with his hands while serving the public.

He apprenticed under his uncle in the plumbing business, then moved to north Texas and landed a job as an aircraft fueler before making his way to the Public Works department in Coppell. He built sets for the annual recital and worked with lots of different personalities while teaching dance, so it's no surprise he excelled in a hands-on, customer service-oriented environment moving quickly from maintenance worker to crew leader during his four years in Coppell. Today you'll find Roman expertly fielding water related calls from residents. His skill and servant's heart earned him the Employee of the Year award for his department last year.

Growing up working for the family business, Roman says he loves the family-oriented vibe working for the City of Coppell. The open door policy and pick-you-up-when-you're-down mentality has made it like no other place he's worked before.

When he's not on the phone or working in the field, Roman is spending time with fiancée, Ché, looking forward to his upcoming wedding this September and preparing to go to school to earn his bachelor's degree. He has no plans to enter any television talent shows in the near future.
