FREE COLLEGE SAFETY: 101 CLASS FOR INCOMING COLLEGE FRESHMEN AND FIRST-TIME RENTERS

​​As families are enjoying the last few weeks of summer, many students are packing up their belongings and heading off to college. This exciting time presents a need for young people to brush up on some important life skills. The City of Coppell's Life Safety Park is presenting College Safety: 101 for incoming college freshman and first-time renters at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 30. This class is appropriate for high school upperclassmen, early-year college students, and first-time independent dwellers.​

With a guest presenter from the University of North Texas Police Department, this course will cover the latest tips on home, fire, and personal safety to boost students' safety and success while in college. Topics include:

  • Fire safety
  • Campus and residence security
  • Safety mobile applications
  • Drug and alcohol awareness
  • Scams and identity theft
  • General health tips to avoid the "Freshman 15"​
