The Coppell Police Department now has a Safe Exchange Zone, located on the north end of the Coppell Justice Center parking lot between Fire Station 3 and the Criminal Justice Center, for residents to use as a location to exchange goods bought or sold online. The location is clearly marked with yellow stripes and signs indicating "Exchange Zone", and surveillance cameras will record the area 24 hours a day.
The purpose of the Safe Exchange Zone is to make the process of exchanging goods sold or purchased online safer. The location aims to give residents a neutral, monitored environment to properly conduct trades without the need to reveal personal addresses.
Please be aware that while the purpose of the Safe Exchange Zone is to offer a place to conduct secure exchanges, the zone will only be recorded by camera and is not manned by officers.
At this time there are no plans to create further Safe Exchange Zones, but that may change in the future.
