Roadwork to Begin on South Royal Lane

Under the direction of the City of Coppell, Dallas County Public Works will begin roadwork on South Royal Lane between Bethel Road and Sandy Lake on Wednesday, June 6. The City will lay asphalt on both the northbound and southbound sides of South Royal. The asphalt overlay will begin at Bethel Road and will continue north until all areas have been completed. Weather permitting, construction on South Royal is expected to be completed by Monday, July 2. Portions of the roadway will be closed while the work is completed. Please plan ahead and seek alternate routes.

Once the roadwork from Bethel Road to Sandy Lake has been completed, asphalt overlay will begin on South Royal Lane between Bethel Road and IH-635.

The roadwork on South Royal Lane is the second phase of the asphalt overlay project that was approved by City Council during the February 13, 2018 meeting. The asphalt overlay was recently completed on South Belt Line Road, between Southwestern Parkway and Hackberry Road.

The asphalt overlay project presents a temporary solution that will allow for a smooth ride for drivers as traffic on South Royal and South Belt Line increases while Freeport Parkway is under construction. The asphalt overlay will be removed in the coming years, once Freeport Parkway is completed and concrete reconstruction begins on South Belt Line and South Royal Lane.
