Pick Your Picket Day at Kid Country / Sat July 28

One of the fund raisers for the original Kid Country was the purchase of a picket that would be used in the park. Purchasers had the option of engraving their name, family's name or business in the wood.  Were you one of the hundreds who purchased a picket in 1992?

On Saturday July 28, for $5 you can retrieve your engraved pickets from the existing Kid Country playground. This will be a one day only event. You will need to arrive at the park and a park employee will assist you in removing your picket(s). It is only $5 per family regardless of the number of pickets you have. If you are out of town you can have a friend pick up your picket on July 28.

You will need to tell the work crew where your picket is located as they will not know the location. Again, this is a one-day only event.  So, plan your outing to Kid Country soon to locate your picket.

In addition, a photographer will be on site in the morning to take your farewell picture. For a  fee you can have your picture taken before Kid Country 1992 becomes history.  The committee is still seeking volunteers and funding so please purchase your new picket or component, or check your calendar and volunteer today! The all-volunteer Coppell Kid Country Playground Committee continues coordinating this huge community effort to rebuild the iconic Kid Country children’s playground located in Andy Brown Park East. The effort to rebuild Kid Country will assure that this terrific amenity will continue to be a part of Coppell for years to come.

Kid Country 1992 Removal

Kid Country 1992 will be removed beginning Monday, July 30. The playground will be closed during demolition and remain closed until the build week of October 1. You will see activity during this time as the site is prepared. The existing structures will be demolished and the ground prepped to make way for the new play areas. For about eight weeks, this landmark structure will no longer stand guard at ABE.
