Residential Trash Pick-up Print E-mail

Residential Trash Pick-up is on WEDNESDAYS AND SATURDAYS by Waste Management, the authorized city waste contractor. Trash trucks provide pick up from 7am to 7pm on those days. Waste Management reserves the right to route the trucks based on the weather, street/alley closings, and number of trucks on route, therefore the schedule may change during the pick-up day. Residents are responsible for providing portable container(s) for the placement of all trash to provide containment of trash at the collection point to prevent littering.

Guidelines

Trash containers may consist of plastic or treated paper bags, galvanized iron, tin or other suitable metal or plastic cans with a tight fitting lid and a handle for removal.

Place your trash in containers or bags at the end of your driveway (street or alley) by 7am on trash pick-up day, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Containers need to be taken back up to the house within 24 hours of trash collection.

Waste Management will pick up a maximum of one cubic yard of trash per residence.  One cubic yard is comparable to filling up the back of a one ton pick-up truck.  If there is an excessive amount of trash, residents may take it directly to the landfill, or wait until Waste Management returns on the next scheduled pick-up day.  For a fee, residents may also call Waste Management for special collection services.

BULKY WASTE collection is every Saturday at your regular trash collection point. Residents must call Waste Management at 972-315-5400 by 12:00 pm on the Thursday before collection to arrange for a pick-up. Bulky waste is limited in size to what two men can reasonably place into a standard one ton truck.  This includes all items larger than you can bag or put in the container, which might include sofas, BBQ grills, hot water heaters, mattresses, carpeting, etc. Freezers, Refrigerators, and A/C units must have a certificate that the CFC's have been removed. To have the CFC's removed; call a certified technician or plumber.

TREE AND BRUSH TRIMMINGS must be prepared by cutting trimmings into 5 ft. lengths and tying the bundles so they weigh less than 50 pounds. Tree trunks must be less than 6" in diameter. Any trunks larger than 6" in diameter will not be picked up. Place the bundles at your regular collection point on your recycling day.

Trash, bulky waste or yard waste that exceeds the size or volume limitations will not be collected with regular trash pick-up.  Special collection services for these items must be arranged directly with Waste Management.  Payment for such services will be the responsibility of the resident.

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS include construction debris, wood pallets, landscape timbers, concrete, soil/dirt, liquids, and household hazardous wastes.
