Summer Reading Challenge
Summer Reading Kick-Off
Saturday, May 20 from 10 am - 12 pm
Drop by and help us kick off this year’s summer reading challenge! Join us in Town Center Plaza for games, treats, a giant inflatable slide, and more. Pick up your reading log to begin earning great prizes this summer. We'll be in the area of Town Center Plaza closest to the Library and the YMCA, where the Storybook Walk is (behind Town Center Elementary's playground). Event will be moved to the Library meeting room if inclement weather occurs. Can’t make it? No worries. All ages can pick up a reading log in the Library beginning May 20th.
Summer Reading Challenge
May 20 - July 31
It’s easy to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge! Pick up a reading log at our Summer Reading Kickoff event or at the library. Each day you read (or are read to) for 20 minutes, color in one of the popsicles on the reading log. Fill out the entry slips and return them to the library to win a FREE book and to be entered into the grand prize drawing. The first day to log your reading is Saturday, May 20. The last day to log your reading is Monday, July 31. All ages can participate in the Summer Reading Challenge.
Read/Listen Everyday
We encourage everyone to read or listen to someone read every day for at least 20 minutes during the Summer Reading Challenge. The 20 minutes of reading each day do not need to be consecutive. Reading to someone else counts towards your reading log. Prefer audiobooks? That counts too!
Prizes
All participants that complete 15 days of reading can receive a free book of their choice from the Summer Reading Book Prize cart. Summer Reading participants will be entered into the grand prize drawing for every entry slip that is completed and returned by July 31. Winners will be picked from each age group (early literacy, elementary, teen, and adult). Grand prizes for teens include an outdoor hammock, Spotify gift card with earbuds, LEGO set, Bluetooth speaker, instant print camera, Starbucks gift card with travel mug, and a gel nail polish kit. Grand prizes for adults include Amazon gift cards, J Macklin's gift cards, tickets to the Coppell Art Center, and tickets to the Dallas Arboretum.
