Metrocrest Service to Honor “Hidden Heroes” in Community

Celebrate community members creating change through everyday actions at the first ever Hidden Heroes Luncheon! Enjoy fun and festivities with your friends, network with community leaders, and browse the Hidden Treasures Boutique, a pop-up store with rare and unique items from the Metrocrest Resale store.
Funds raised at the event will help meet the increased need in our communities, funding essential programs and services that provide support during a crisis and a path to financial independence.
EcoExplorer
November 1 - 29 | 9 am – Noon, Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday | Biodiversity Education Center
Drop in during visiting hours every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to learn about the Biodiversity Education Center, Coppell Nature Park, and the seasonal programs offered. While you’re there, learn about the local environment through self-guided activities and interactive resources. Then, take what you learn out on the trails to become true EcoExplorers! Themes last two weeks and will be posted on the BEC Facebook page.
Theatre Coppell – Spamilton An American Parody

Gerard Alessandrini, the comic mastermind behind the long-running hit Forbidden Broadway, has created a new musical parody, SPAMILTON! It's the fictitious story of a very famous writer/director/star trying to save Broadway from mediocrity and oblivion. Along the way, this sharp and lovable genius not only takes aim at Broadway's current mega-hit, but manages to make hysterical mincemeat out of many classic and new Broadway shows. Countless film and stage stars drop by to add to the fun and mayhem, making SPAMILTON a multi generational delight for everyone!
Make & Take Saturday Children’s Crafts
November 5 | 9 am – Noon | Coppell Arts Center
How about a fun, creative start to your weekend? Bring your family to the Coppell Arts Center the first Saturday of each month for free make-and-take craft workshops. Stop by anytime between 9 am – noon to create your craft. Kids will receive a do-it-yourself craft kit that they can assemble and customize at art stations inside the Coppell Arts Center. A parent must accompany all children at all times.

Free Heritage Park tours and the Minyard Store at Coppell Heritage Park are open to the public on Saturdays of most months from 10 am to Noon. The Old Minyard Store will have old-fashioned candy and postcards of historic Coppell for sale.

Join the Friends of Coppell Nature Park for a guided hike to discover the wonders of our local ecosystem.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Hikers are asked to wear protective clothing and bring a water bottle. This program is hosted by the Friends of Coppell Nature Park FREE of charge. Registration is required. Open to all ages.

FCNP Nature’s Workshop – Make a Bat
November 9 | 10 – 11 am | Biodiversity Education Center – Coppell Nature Park
Bats are amazing mammals. They fly, use sonar, sleep upside down and can each eat up to 5,000 insects per evening! Despite this, their anatomical structure is not very different than ours. Join us as we learn about physiology and habits of bats as we create a project which simulates how bats fly, eat and sleep.
Expand your passion for learning about nature by creating a craft. Join us at the BEC as we enjoy a mini educational lesson and create a craft together that you can take home. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and registration is required. For ages 6-8.
Exploring Nature Series – Mammals!
November 9 | 9 am – Noon | Biodiversity Education Center – Coppell Nature Park
Become a wildlife biologist! Discover what makes mammals unique among other animals and study the characteristics of some species you may encounter in Coppell Nature Park. Create a field guide to use as reference while looking for evidence among the trails.
The Exploring Nature Series content is similar to our popular Junior Master Naturalist program. It allows flexibility but does not include certification. Participants are asked to wear appropriate outdoor clothing including close-toed shoes that can get wet and bring a water bottle. Space is limited and registration is required. For ages 9 – 12.
Fall Frolic – Roots and Wings
November 12 | 11 am – 1 pm | Biodiversity Education Center – Coppell Nature Park
Celebrate nature with hands-on activities along the trail system at Coppell Nature Park at the annual Fall Frolic and Arbor Day event! This year, the Biodiversity Education Center is partnering with the Friends of Coppell Nature Park and the Keep Coppell Beautiful Teensto be able to offer a fun and interactive experience. Discover the various roots and wings to be found in and around Coppell Nature Park. We will have treats, crafts, a live Bluegrass band and fun activities for everyone to enjoy.

The Coppell Community Chorale Presents: First Name Basis

What is something that some people share but is completely unique to the individual? Their name! Join the Coppell Community Chorale as they celebrate famous names from Jolene to Asaka and a million names in between. Maybe you’ll hear your name! Tickets are $13.
Paint & Sip: Inspired by Bob Ross
November 16 | 6 pm | Coppell Arts Center – Reception Hall
Who could use a night out with friends right now? Paint & Sips are a fun way to create memories and masterpieces. Please bring your friends or significant other to wine up and then wind down during one of our two-hour painting classes. This painting is inspired by Bob Ross' wet on wet style of painting. All supplies are provided so you can enjoy a stress-free evening with your instructor Kate Shema of Createria Studios. As for the sip part of the event, a selection of beer and wine will be available for purchase at the bar. Participants will individually work on the same theme. No experience necessary, just an open spirit and willingness to have fun! Tickets are $30 at coppellartscenter.org.

Join Rick and Lisa Travis, Texas Master Naturalists, as they report on the tree survey conducted at CNP. What trees are found here and why are they important? Everyone who walks the trails will enjoy the increased awareness you will learn about the beautiful trees. This program is open to ages 12 and above and is hosted by the Friends of Coppell Nature Park FREE of charge. Registration is required.

The Great Migration Challenge

Join us for an interactive game to explore the hazards and helpers that migratory animals encounter on their long-distance journeys. This program is FREE of charge and registration is not required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All ages welcome.

FCNP Budding Curiosity – Dig it up! Dinosaur Skeletons
November 28 | 10 – 11 am | Biodiversity Education Center – Coppell Nature Park
Our fascination with dinosaurs travels from generation to generation. Finding dinosaur fossils leads us to evidence of animals long gone. While it is unusual to find complete dinosaur skeletons, paleontologists learn as much as they can from bones found. Join the Biodiversity Education Center as they excavate their own Dino-dig and discover what animals are buried.
Join the BEC staff for an education program that builds on a sense of wonder, inviting youth to explore nature and the world around them. Through activities and crafts our program reinforces a foundation for developing positive impressions about nature. Adults are encouraged to actively participate with their children as we enjoy learning together. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and registration is required for each participant. For ages 3-5.
