[ARCHIVED] Increased Aircraft Traffic Over Coppell Expected

Airplanes lined up at the terminal gates at DFW Airport

DFW Airport may experience West Flow aircraft operational conditions Thursday, December 22 and Friday, December 23, because of anticipated strong 20-25 mph winds with gusts as high as 40-50 mph. DFW’s primary runways are oriented north/south and many aircraft cannot use the north/south runways with strong west crosswinds. Diagonal runways 13R/31L and 13L/31R may be needed for both arrivals and departures. These diagonal runways may also need to remain open late or overnight.

The shift in aircraft operations may create some additional aircraft traffic over Coppell.

Residents with inquiries or comments should contact DFW Airport by email, or on the Noise Complaint Hotline at 972-973-3192. For more information, please visit dfwairport.com.
