EcoExplorer
January 3 - 31 | 9 am – Noon Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday | Biodiversity Education Center
Drop in during visiting hours every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to learn about the Biodiversity Education Center, Coppell Nature Park, and the seasonal programs offered. While you’re here, learn about the local environment through self-guided activities and interactive resources. Then, take what you learn out on the trails to become true EcoExplorers! Themes last two weeks and will be posted on the BEC Facebook page.
FCNP Guided Hike
January 7 | 9 am | Biodiversity Education Center
Join the Friends of Coppell Nature Park for a guided hike to discover the wonders of our local ecosystem. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Hikers are asked to wear protective clothing and bring a water bottle. This program is hosted by the Friends of Coppell Nature Park FREE of charge.
Saturday Make & Take Crafts
January 7 | 9 am - Noon | Coppell Arts Center – The Mr. Copper Group Lobby Gallery
How about a fun, creative start to your weekend? Bring your family to the Coppell Arts Center located in Old Town Coppell one Saturday each month for free make-and-take craft workshops. Stop by anytime between 9 am - noon to create your craft. Kids will receive a do-it-yourself craft kit that they can assemble and customize at art stations inside the Coppell Arts Center. A parent must accompany all children at all times.

Free Heritage Park tours and the Minyard Store at Coppell Heritage Park are open to the public on Saturdays of most months from 10 am - noon. The Old Minyard Store will have old-fashioned candy and postcards of historic Coppell for sale.
Nature’s Workshop – Bird Calls
January 11 | 10 – 11 am | Biodiversity Education Center
Animals communicate in a variety of different ways, but there is no more distinctive form of communication than the beauty of a bird's song. Expand your passion for learning about nature by creating a craft. Join us at the BEC as we enjoy a mini educational lesson and create a craft together that you can take home. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and registration is required. For ages 6 – 8.
Exploring Nature Series – Birds
January 12 | 9 am – Noon | Biodiversity Education Center
Become an ornithologist! Discover what makes birds unique among other animals. Experience a migration journey and encounter some of the species that live in Coppell Nature Park. The Exploring Nature Series content is similar to our popular Junior Master Naturalist program. It allows flexibility but does not include certification. Participants are asked to wear appropriate outdoor clothing including close-toed shoes that can get wet and bring a water bottle. Space is limited and registration is required. For ages 9 – 12.
Happy Healthy Houseplants
January 12 | 1 – 3 pm | Coppell Senior and Community Center
January 10 is National Houseplant Appreciation Day. Celebrate by attending a class presented by Grow It Land Designs! Plants heighten our creativity, happiness, and purify the air in our homes. Learn about everything needed to pot and care for plants so they live long, healthy, and prosperous lives!
This free class is presented by Grow It Land Designs and hosted by Keep Coppell Beautiful and the Coppell Senior and Community Center. Space is limited and registration is required for each participant. For ages 12+
Adult CPR-AED – Life Safety Park
January 12 | 6 – 9 pm | Heritage Park
CPR AED is an instructor-led course that teaches critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency situation until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid, choking relief, and what to do for sudden cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infants. Registration is required.

FCNP Zookeeper in Training for Teens
January 14 | 10 am – Noon | Biodiversity Education Center
Learn about what it takes to be a zookeeper from Cindi Cavallini, a professional member of American Association of Zookeepers and Owner/Educator of All About Animals. Information will include diets, enrichment, and more. Learn the ins and outs of the animal field with hands-on interaction with live animals. This program is hosted by the Friends of Coppell Nature Park FREE of charge. Registration is required for each participant. This is a drop-off program and is for teenagers ages 12-17.
Paint & Sip with Createria Studios
January 18 | 6 pm | Coppell Arts Center – Reception Hall
Who could use a night out with friends right now? Paint & Sips are a fun way to create memories and masterpieces. Please bring your friends or significant other to wine up and then wind down during one of their two-hour painting classes. Purchase ONE $30 ticket per PERSON.

Budding Curiosity – Build a Bird
January 23 | 10 – 11 am | Biodiversity Education Center
Join the BEC staff for an education program that builds on a sense of wonder, inviting youth to explore nature and the world around them. Through activities and crafts our program reinforces a foundation for developing positive impressions about nature. Adults are encouraged to actively participate with their children as we enjoy learning together. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and registration is required for each participant. For ages 3 – 5.
