City of Coppell Rescinds Boil Water Notice: Coppell's Water is Safe To Drink

The City of Coppell has received the water sample results from Trinity River Authority (TRA), and the samples meet Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements. As a result, the City of Coppell has lifted the Boil Water Notice. Utility customers may once again use water as normal.
On June 28, 2023, the TCEQ required the City of Coppell public water system (identification number 0570040) to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, and employees that, due to a power failure and the resulting loss of water pressure in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use as drinking water or for human consumption purposes.
The City of Coppell has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water used for drinking water or human consumption purposes distributed by this public water system and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of Thursday, June 29, 2023.
If water is flowing normally from faucets, there is no need for customers to flush water from lines prior to consumption. All water in the City of Coppell system is safe for human consumption. Some residents and businesses may notice a buildup of air in their water lines. In this case, utility customers are advised to open their faucets and flush the air from their lines for 10 minutes.
All City of Coppell facilities, with the exception of the library, are operating at regular hours today, June 29. The Cozby Library is expected to open at noon on June 29.

The City of Coppell Boil Water Notice is still in effect until the of City of Coppell receives results indicating that water meets TCEQ requirements. Once the City of Coppell has an update, the City will notify the community on coppelltx.gov and on social media.

City of Coppell Facilities to Open at Regular Hours June 29
Cozby Library to Open at Noon
All City facilities, with the exception of the Cozby Library, will open at regular operating hours on Thursday, June 29, 2023. Use of water fountains and showers will be restricted until the Boil Water Notice has been lifted. City facilities have been stocked with bottled water and hand sanitizer for use by patrons and employees.
The Cozby Library and Community Commons will have a delayed opening on Thursday, June 29, to allow residents to pick up bottles of water. The library is expected to open at noon on Thursday, June 29.
Bottled water will be available to Coppell residents at the Cozby Library, 177 N. Heartz Road, beginning at 7 am on June 29. One case is available per household. Coppell Police Department will be directing traffic into the lot. To enter the lot, please make a left into the parking lot from the northbound lane of Heartz Road from Park Valley Drive and exit the lot by turning right onto southbound Heartz Road. Remain in your car and staff will load water into the trunk.

Water Supply Restored; Bottled Water Available at the Cozby Library
Power has been restored to the City of Coppell’s Village Parkway Pump Station, and the City’s water supply is being replenished. City of Coppell utility customers may once again use water for household purposes. Please note, the Boil Water Notice remains in effect until further notice.
City crews are working to flush the water system. As a result of the reduced water pressure that resulted from the power outage, residents and businesses should expect a buildup of air in their water lines. Utility customers are advised to open their faucets and flush the air from their lines.
The City will submit a water sample to Trinity River Authority (TRA) for testing this afternoon. Pending the results of the water sample, it is expected that the Boil Water Notice will be lifted tomorrow morning, Thursday, June 29. Until that time, customers should continue to boil water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). The City will notify the community as soon as this advisory is lifted.

Village Parkway Pump Station Update
Early this morning, June 28, the City of Coppell was made aware that the Village Parkway Pump Station had lost power.
The system’s main backup power source activated for several hours but eventually failed, which led to the interruption in the water supply. As a result, the City switched to a second backup power source. The City has confirmed that the second power source is running.
Oncor is onsite actively working to restore the power that feeds the system, and it is anticipated that power should be fully restored by the end of the day. Oncor has assured the City that power will be restored today.
Some residents may notice water returning to their homes. Others may not have any water running through their homes. At this time, it is advised that water only be used for emergency purposes until pressure is fully restored. Please be patient as getting each of the water pumps restored will take some time.
Please note that the BOIL WATER NOTICE is still in effect until further notice. As soon as water is safe for consumption, the City will lift the Boil Water Notice. Until that time, regardless of the availability of water in faucets, residents should continue to follow the mandate in the Boil Water Notice. The City will notify the community as soon as this advisory is lifted.

City of Coppell Issues Boil Water Notice
Due to a power outage at the Village Parkway Pump Station caused by a fallen power line, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the City of Coppell public water system (identification number: 0570040) to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions.
Power has been restored to the pump station, and water flow is expected to be restored to utility customers this afternoon. Please note, the boil water notice remains in effect until further notice.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the City of Coppell will notify the community that the water is safe for drinking and human consumption purposes.

City Enters Stage 5 of Water Conservation Plan; City Facilities Closed Through Noon
Due to a power outage at the Village Parkway Pump Station caused by a fallen power line, the City has entered State 5 of the Water Conservation Plan, allowing for water use only in emergencies. The City of Coppell requests that residents and businesses only use water in emergency situations.
To conserve water supply, City facilities and offices will not open to the public until noon on Wednesday, June 28.
Crews are working diligently to restore power to the Pump Station.
