What’s That Bird?

January 16  |  2 pm  |  Cozby Library and Community Commons

Have you ever noticed the birds in the pond next to the library or in the canal along Heartz Road? There are over a dozen different species of waterfowl, wading bird, and songbird that can be observed around the library during winter. Learn to recognize several different migratory species, in addition to year-round bird residents, in this introduction to urban birding. You don't even need binoculars to observe most of the birds that use the waterways around Coppell! A copy of the slides will be sent to participants after the program so that you can practice identifying species on your own. While this program is designed primarily for adults, all ages are welcome to join. Children under 12 must have an adult present to participate. Only one person per household needs to register. This is a virtual program that will be held via Zoom, a free online platform for virtual programs. Register for What's That Bird? here.

Guided Bird Walk

Please be prepared to walk some distance from the library down Heartz Road. We may relocate to Andy Brown East Park depending on what we observe in the immediate vicinity of the library. There will be no access to the library building and no library services will be offered during this program. While this program is designed primarily for adults, children 12 and up may attend with an adult. Please do not bring pets or anyone not registered for the program. Register for the Guided Bird Walk here

Remember to dress for the weather. You may bring binoculars and a bird guide if you have them. Many species we will be looking for can be easily observed without binoculars. Even though this is an outdoor program, for the safety of staff and all who attend, masks covering nose and mouth will be required at all times and participants must maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from those not in their household.

This program may be cancelled at any time due to weather or changes in COVID-19 restrictions.
