Art Exhibit: Contemporary Handmade Quilts
Through February 13
Please join us at the Coppell Arts Center’s Mr. Cooper Group Lobby Gallery for Contemporary Handmade Quilts, a traveling exhibition on loan from the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky, which pays homage to artists who use the traditional technique of hand quilting to create works of art. Contemporary artists employ varied materials such as cotton, silk, and dyes to create compositions inspired by their own histories, traditions, and lived experiences.
The exhibit is free to view, and no prior reservation is required. The Coppell Arts Center is open Tuesday - Saturday 10 am to 5 pm.

Winter Birds Trail Day

How do birds survive the winter season? Fly down to the BEC to discover the unique characteristics and adaptations of birds, migration challenges, and how YOU can help! Meet some winter bird residents as you explore the trails of Coppell Nature Park and make a bird feeder to take home! Trail Days are designed for families and youth ages 3-14. Drop in during open hours to learn about a theme in nature by exploring various activity stations on the trails of Coppell Nature Park. CPR AED is an instructor-led course that teaches critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency situation until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid, choking relief, and what to do for sudden cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infants. There is no minimum age requirement for this class; however, all registrants need to be capable of comprehending the material and participating in the activities. Black History Month Celebration

Every February, people across the nation come together for events and activities to celebrate Black History Month. It’s a time to continue the collective journey of honoring and deepening the knowledge of the history and contributions of Black Americans and people of African descent. The theme for Black History Month 2021 is The Black Family: Representation, Identity and Diversity and is set every year by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History®, an organization founded in 1915 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the famed African American historian known as the “Father of Black History.” This Coppell Library’s Black History Month event aligns with the theme, spanning the various areas from business, education, arts, civics, technology, entertainment, sports, and more! Billy has had an incredible 24 year career in the US Army in which he was awarded the Purple Heart 5 times and includes graduating the Special Forces Qualifications course as the honor graduate for the Weapons Sergeants Course. Billy was a Horse Soldier as part of Task Force Dagger whose story is told in the movie 12 Strong.
With more than 19 combat tours and 30 surgeries from his injuries and wounds, Billy is striving every day to overcome the effects of continuous combat deployments. He is the proud father of two young men and the grandfather to 5 wonderful grandchildren.
