Hygiene Drive

When we think of donation drives, we first think of canned goods during the holiday months, but hygiene items are in high demand all year long. This summer, the library will be collecting hygiene items like shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, and laundry detergent for Metrocrest Services. Virtual Pet Parade

Through July 31  |   Cozby Library and Community Commons

Send the Cozby Library and Community Commons a picture of your pets! They’ll compile them all in a video at the end of the summer to make a Virtual Pet Parade. Your picture may also be displayed in the library. You can email your photo to cozbyprograms@coppelltx.gov, send it to us on social media, or bring a print in to the library.

Independence Day Drive-Thru

July 2 |   11 am – 1 pm   |   Coppell Senior & Community Center

Swing by the Coppell Senior Center and pick up a Hard Eight gift card for a sandwich lunch special, which includes a sandwich (brisket, turkey, sausage, pulled pork or ham), a drink, and bag of chips. Once registered, you will receive an email letting you know what time you will be assigned to come to the center to pick up your card. Make & Take Saturday Children’s Crafts

How about a fun, creative start to your weekend? Bring your family to the Coppell Arts Center located in Old Town Coppell one Saturday each month for free make-and-take craft workshops. Stop by anytime between 9 am and noon to create your craft.

 

Celebrate Coppell: Parade Down Parkway

July 3 |   9 am

The Parade Down Parkway kicks off at 9 am and begins at Samuel Blvd. and Sandy Lake Rd., travels north on Samuel to Parkway Blvd., then heads west to Town Center. Intersections along the parade route will be closed prior to the approaching parade and remain closed until all entries have passed. Spectators may find the best viewing locations and line the parade route early for the best spot to see the red, white, and blue floats go by on the Celebrate Coppell website!

 

Celebrate Coppell: Party in the Park

July 3 |   5 – 10 pm   |   Andrew Brown Park East

Come out to Andrew Brown Park East at 5 pm for Celebrate Coppell: Party in the Park! Eventgoers will enjoy live music by Rubiks Groove and Big City Outlaws, lawn games, and delicious food truck fare. The fireworks spectacular, choreographed to patriotic music, begins at 9:30 pm. Celebrate Coppell: Party in the Park is a pedestrian-friendly event and walking is encouraged. Event attendees may access the event site via trail, from both Andrew Brown Central and West, as well as Coppell High School to the west, and from the north across the Denton Creek Bridge. Passenger drop-off will be located at The CORE. Accessible parking will be available at the Andrew Brown East parking lot.

What unique properties of water make it essential for all life? How does water changes form as it travels through the water cycle? How does water become polluted, and how might we conserve this precious natural resource? Explore Cottonwood Creek and learn how to assess the health of an aquatic habitat. Trail Days are designed for families and youth ages 3-14. Drop-in during open hours to learn about a theme in nature by exploring various activity stations on the trails of Coppell Nature Park. Maps are provided. Please arrive with enough time to complete activities before the close time. This program is FREE of charge and registration is not required.

ARThouse Kids Art Class:   Watercolor Seahorse

Exercise the imagination at the ARThouse. This class is designed for children ages 7-10 to help them learn and develop fine motor skills by creating art! Theatre Coppell – Amon! The Ultimate Texan

July 16 - 18 | Friday and Saturday 8 pm and Sunday 2:30pm | Coppell Arts Center

Amon Carter, Jr., was generous, wealthy, friend of Presidents, and an eccentric. His loyalty to his hometown Fort Worth prompted him to compete with neighboring Dallas. Legend has it that when he had to attend a function in Big D, he would eat from his own sack lunch so that he didn’t have to consume Dallas food. Out of respect for his preference not to walk the streets of Dallas, this play is not performed within the Dallas city limits, and Theatre Coppell is proud to produce this show for the first time in Dallas County. There will be three performances only in the Main Hall of the Coppell Arts Center, 505 Travis St. Buy tickets online.

The Coppell Community Chorale’s 2021 Summer Music Workshop Series:  Everything You Wanted to Know About Singing — But Were Afraid to Ask!

Open the door to the world of music! “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Singing – But Were Afraid to Ask” is a 4-week series of seminars and workshops intended to educate, entertain, and inspire the community to sing. Each 90-minute session will explore a different aspect of choral music. Designed for adults and teens interested in learning more about music. All levels of singers are encouraged to attend – Car crooners, shower sensations, and even the venerable choir veteran will all benefit. Each week will build upon the one before, but attendees may register for individual sessions or the entire series. Tickets are $25 per session or $90 for all four sessions. Cards for Kindness:  Using Up Scraps of Paper

We all have scraps of paper that we think we will use someday. Well, today is the day! Make greeting cards using up that scrap pile - simple, easy, and fast card making. You will need to supply scraps of patterned paper, 4" x 5" cardstock, glue, glitter, pellet knife, double-sided adhesive sheets, and an oval stamp cutter. Outdoor Storytime

Join Cozby Library and Community Commons for storytime outdoors in Town Center Plaza! They will sing, dance, and enjoy stories. Please stay together with your group and maintain social distancing from others. Town Center Plaza is located behind the library. All ages welcome.

 

Art in Nature Trail Day

July 28  |   10 am – Noon   |   Biodiversity Education Center 

Nature is a source of inspiration to artists of all types. Explore the various ways experiences in nature can be expressed through drawing, writing and drama. Discover your inner artist by practicing each of these mediums. Trail Days are designed for families and youth ages 3-14. Drop-in during open hours to learn about a theme in nature by exploring various activity stations on the trails of Coppell Nature Park. Maps are provided. Please arrive with enough time to complete activities before the close time. This program is FREE of charge and registration is not required. 

 

Indoor Storytime

EcoExplorer

The EcoExplorer program is venturing outdoors. Activity Kits will be available for pick up at the office window during visitor hours. Kits contain instructions and materials to complete learning activities throughout the trails of Coppell Nature Park. Themes change weekly and will be posted on the BEC Facebook page. Limit one kit per child. Take your trail experience up a notch! Visit coppellactivities.com and search 'Adventure Packs' for information on how to purchase these new packs and enhance your learning on the trail! Supplies are limited.

 

Boredom Busters

July 30 |   10 am - Noon  |   Coppell Senior & Community Center

Are you missing crossword puzzles? Do you miss doing Sudoku and word searches? Come on over to the Coppell Senior Center on the last Friday of every month and pick up a boredom buster brainfit packet with some crosswords, Sudoku puzzles and more. Intended for adults ages 50+. Theatre Coppell – Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella

Vendors feature grass-fed meats and poultry, organic eggs, artisan breads, honey, and other specialty products. Come out to the Farmers Market to find local healthy food, develop a relationship with those providing your food, meet up with friends and neighbors, and be a part of the local movement.
