Theatre Coppell Presents: Ripcord

April 1 - 3  |  Friday and Saturday 8 pm and Sunday 2:30pm  |  Coppell Arts Center

The cantankerous Abby is faced with sharing her senior living quarters with Marilyn, a new arrival, so Abby has no choice but to get rid of the infuriatingly chipper woman by any means necessary. A seemingly harmless bet between the old women quickly escalates into a game of one-upmanship, which reveals the tenacity of these worthy opponents. Amid funny lines and situations, deeper truths emerge.

 

Coppell Farmers Market

The Coppell Farmers Market is the best unique, small market in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Vendors feature grass-fed meats and poultry, organic eggs, artisan breads, honey, and other specialty products. Come out to the Farmers Market to find local healthy food, develop a relationship with those providing your food, meet up with friends and neighbors, and be a part of the local movement. Saturday Morning Guided Hike

April 2  |  9 – 10 am   |  Biodiversity Education Center

Join the Friends of the Coppell Nature Park for a guided hike to discover the wonders of our local ecosystem. Hikers are asked to wear protective clothing and bring a water bottle. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Saturday Make & Take Crafts

April 2   |  9 am – Noon  |   Coppell Arts Center

Stop by anytime between 9 am and noon to create a free craft! Kids ages 3 – 12 will receive a do-it-yourself craft kit that they can assemble and customize at art stations inside the Coppell Arts Center. A parent must accompany all children at all times. 

 

Team Trivia and Feud

April 3  |   1 pm   |   Cozby Library and Community Commons

Enjoy an afternoon of Team Trivia at the library. Your team can consist of family members or friends or a mix. Not a great trivia player? Cozby Library and Community Commons still has you covered with a fun round of Family Feud where you can score most of your points. Play against other teams for a chance to win a gift certificate to a local Coppell restaurant. The program is for adults and kids 10 years and older (one adult must be present). Registration is required for each member so we have an accurate count of expected players.  

 

Toddler Time

Storytime for 1-and 2-year-olds with their adult caregiver. Short stories, music, rhymes, and movement activities are incorporated in this action-packed program that engages toddlers in language-based activities. Space is limited, so plan to arrive early. Tickets are available at the front desk, 15 minutes before the start of the storytime.

 

Baby and Me Storytime

April 4  |   11 am   |   Cozby Library and Community Commons

Babies from birth to crawling and their favorite adult will enjoy songs, action rhymes, and share books together in this one-on-one lap sit program. This storytime is designed to be a springboard for literacy, by exploring the senses with music, action rhymes, and age appropriate reading. Come prepared to have fun with baby. After storytime, they invite you and baby to stay, socialize, and play with a variety of age-appropriate toys! Space is limited, so plan to arrive early. Tickets are available at the front desk, 30 minutes before the start of the storytime.

  

Crochet Hook Up

April 4  |   6:30 pm   |   Cozby Library and Community Commons

Crocheters (or knitters!) of any skill level are invited to bring your work and hang out, or get some tips from other crocheters. This is not a formal teaching experience. Participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies; however they will have some to share. For adults 18 and older.

  

Coppell Lions Club General Meeting

Speaker: Lion Wes Mays, Mayor of Coppell

Each meeting includes the discussion of current and planned activities, as well as frequent guest speakers who discuss issues in and around Coppell, North Texas and Texas as a whole. Meetings are open to anyone that would like to attend. Coppell Women’s Club Monthly Meeting

The Coppell Women's Club (CWC) was founded in 1973 to promote friendship and a strong community among all women who have an interest in Coppell and to preserve the charm and small-town atmosphere through interesting social and cultural activities including Community Service. Club membership includes regular meetings, generally held the first Wednesday of each month throughout the traditional academic year, Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and luncheons twice a year.

Adult CPR-AED

CPR AED is an instructor-led course that teaches critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency situation until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid, choking relief, and what to do for sudden cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infants.

FCNP You Can be a Scientist

Jill Nugent, Associate Dean for Collin Collee, SciStarter Team Member, and proud member of Team DFW for the annual City Nature Challenge, shows how your curiosity can have meaningful impact on environmental conservation. Discover the concept of citizen science and how you can contribute to research by making observations of nature in your area using online platforms like iNaturalist! This program is hosted by the Friends of Coppell Nature Park free of charge. Registration is required

 

Second Saturday Family Storytime

Lions Club Spot Screening

Lions Club members will conduct a preliminary screening on children’s eyes for various visual impairments. Prescriptions will not be issued. For children 6 months to 5 years old and any child with special needs.

Warli Art Workshop

Join guest instructor Archana Mahimkar to explore Warli, one of the oldest art forms. Mahimkar will walk attendees through the history of this art form, the relevance of the art to Indian culture, the reasoning behind why this art form only uses 3 shapes, how to draw borders, and figures in Warli. The objective of this class will be to have attendees walk away excited at having learnt a new (ancient) art form and having a completed picture to enjoy. For adults 18 and older. Join Cozby Library and Community Commons to hear from a panel of community members as they tell their personal stories of Military service. In order to build deeper understanding and empathy, audience members can ask questions of the panelists in a safe and comfortable environment. In the unimaginably huge universe, we have the opportunity on any clear night to catch a glimpse of a little corner that makes up our galaxy. The Cozby Library and Community Commons is excited to host the Director of Library and Archives from the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum for an in-person workshop on how to address the most common challenges of home preservation. They share tips and tricks from a wide variety of sources and offer optional writing prompts, timed exercises, and chances to share your writing in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Coppell Farmers Market

April 30  |   8 am – Noon   |   Old Town Coppell

The Coppell Farmers Market is the best unique, small market in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Vendors feature grass-fed meats and poultry, organic eggs, artisan breads, honey, and other specialty products. Come out to the Farmers Market to find local healthy food, develop a relationship with those providing your food, meet up with friends and neighbors, and be a part of the local movement. Defenders of Freedom is thrilled to announce registration for our 17th Annual Golf Outing is now open! Please join them for a memorable experience at our two course event. Build a team of three and they will field the fourth with a Veteran who has benefited or will benefit from the generosity of our donors. You can also bring a team of four without a VIP guest.
