Coppell Community Chorale Summer Music Workshop: Everything you ever wanted to know about singing – but were afraid to ask!
August 1 & 8 | 7 – 8:30 pm | Coppell Arts Center
This four week course was designed by Dr. Joshua Brown of Ouachita Baptist University to provide a fundamental level of musical information in a practical way to empower singers to feel confident in their abilities to make a meaningful contribution to a choral/vocal ensemble. The two remaining classes are:

- August 8 – Ensemble Skills

Drop in during visiting hours every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to learn about the Biodiversity Education Center, Coppell Nature Park, and the seasonal programs offered. While you're here, learn about the local environment through self-guided activities and interactive resources. Then, take what you learn out on the trails to become true EcoExplorers! Themes last two weeks and will be posted on the BEC Facebook page.
Defenders of Freedom – An Evening with Patriots

Defenders of Freedom is thrilled to present LT COL Stuart Scheller as the speaker for the Evening with Patriots Dinner Series. He served in the US Marine Corps for 17 years and has seen action in Beirut, Iraq, and Afghanistan. After the Fall of Kabul in 2021, he was removed from duty after making a video on Facebook criticizing US military leadership. The viral video, which was posted on August 26, 2021, was 4:45 minutes long. Within the first 10 hours of being uploaded to Facebook, the film gained over 70,000 views and 6,000 shares, as well as widespread media coverage. He was discharged from the Marine Corps December 23, 2021. Sponsorships and Tickets are available for purchase on the Defenders of Freedom website.
FCNP Guided Hike
August 6 | 9 – 10 am | Biodiversity Education Center
Join the Friends of Coppell Nature Park for a guided hike to discover the wonders of our local ecosystem. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Hikers are asked to wear protective clothing and bring a water bottle. This program is FREE of charge. No registration is required.
Geocache Treasure Hunt
August 6 | 10 am – Noon | Biodiversity Education Center
Join the BEC for a family-friendly, high-tech treasure hunt! Discover how to utilize GPS on your personal mobile device to locate hidden treasures throughout the trails of Coppell Nature Park. A series of GPS coordinates will lead you to each prize! Registration is required and children must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $10 per child and $5 per additional child. Details and instructions will be emailed to registrants.
Coppell Historical Society – Open House

Kirkland House and the Minyard Store at Coppell Heritage Park are open to the public on Saturdays of most months from 10 am to Noon. The Old Minyard Store will have old-fashioned candy and postcards of historic Coppell for sale.
Metrocrest Services Competitive Edge Workshop

Are you ready to learn skills that will help you land a new or better job? Do you have a desire to network with employers and brainstorm with peers? If you said yes to either of these questions, the Competitive Edge 3-day workshop is for you! During the workshop, you will learn to: identify job leads and use online job search tools, prepare an effective resume and cover letter, answer tough interview questions with ease, and sell yourself to hiring employers. Nature’s Workshop — The Three R’s

Taking care of our environment is a common stewardship goal we all have. Do your part by upcycling a t-shirt into a bag. Expand your passion for learning about nature by creating a craft. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and registration is required.

FCNP Growing and Caring for Your Orchids
August 13 | 10 am – Noon | Biodiversity Education Center
Charles Hess from the Greater North Texas Orchid Society will offer hands-on assistance and information on keeping your orchids healthy and blooming. Do you talk to your orchids? You will learn how they talk to you through their leaves and roots. You may bring your orchids if you have any questions. A check-up of your orchid and materials will be provided if you would like to repot your orchids. This program is hosted by the Friends of Coppell Nature Park FREE of charge. Registration is required.
Paint & Sip
August 17 | 6 – 8 pm | Coppell Arts Center
Who could use a night out with friends right now? Paint & Sips are a fun way to create memories and masterpieces. Please bring your friends or significant other to wine up and then wind down during one of our two-hour painting classes. We’ll provide all the painting supplies so you can enjoy a stress-free evening with your instructor Kate Shema of Createria Studios. A selection of beer and wine will be available for purchase at the bar. Other than water, outside beverages are not permitted. Participants will individually work on the same theme. No experience necessary, just an open spirit and willingness to have fun! Tickets are $30 per person and available for purchase online.
